By booking or participating in any service, purchasing merchandise, or engaging with Craven Canines in any way, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
1. Purpose
The Terms & Conditions are designed to ensure the safety, responsibility, and welfare of all clients (both human and canine) and members of the public we may encounter. These Terms and Conditions take effect as soon as you sign up for any service or purchase any product from Craven Canines.
We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. All changes will be published on our website and take effect immediately.
2. Children
- Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and remain the responsibility of that adult at all times.
- Children are expected to behave appropriately around unfamiliar dogs and not run or distract other dogs during sessions.
- Very young children may require additional supervision, and quiet entertainment may be provided, provided it does not disrupt the session.
3. Start Times
- Clients must arrive on time for sessions. Late arrivals can stress dogs and disrupt the session.
4. Conduct
- Clients must remain respectful to all instructors, staff, and fellow participants. Abusive language or behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in account suspension or termination without prior notice.
- Upon termination, your right to access services ceases immediately. Provisions relating to liability, indemnity, and ownership survive termination.
- Craven Canines reserves the right to refuse or terminate services, with immediate effect and without refund, where behaviour, conduct, or actions are deemed unsafe, inappropriate, or detrimental to the welfare of dogs, participants, instructors, or the public.
5. Bookings and Payments
- Payment in full is required at the time of booking.
- Bookings are confirmed on a first-come-first-served basis. Confirmation will be sent by email; it is the client's responsibility to ensure the correct venue and time.
- All fees must be paid in GBP. Craven Canines is not responsible for charges or fees from banks or credit card providers.
- Services will not commence until payment is received.
6. Cancellations and Refunds
General points
- Subject to any statutory rights of cancellation, payments for training, classes, workshops, events, membership fees or gift certificates are non-refundable and non-transferable unless otherwise stated in these Terms and Conditions.
- Mantrailing is an outdoor sport and is subject to varying complications that may require us to abandon a session due to safety, including but not limited to: extreme heat, thunderstorms, high winds or too few clients booked on. A minimum of three clients are required to safely run a training session. All clients booked onto sessions must be aware of these possibilities. If a session is abandoned, alternatives will be offered, though no refunds shall be given. In this instance, you will be notified by email as soon as possible.
- Craven Canines reserves the right to decide whether training sessions or workshops are safe to go ahead or not.
- If Craven Canines cancels a mantrailing session or introduction workshop due to ill health of the instructor (Laura Craven) then full refunds will apply or the client may be booked onto another session.
Standard training sessions
- Refunds, if any, shall be made entirely at Craven Canines discretion. Please note, 10% will be deducted to cover admin cost.
- If the client fails to attend an introduction workshop or training session no refund shall be given.
- No refunds will be given if a client cancels their space on a training session or workshop.
- If a client or their dog becomes ill and is unable to attend a session, a doctor's or licensed veterinarian's note must be provided. The client will then be offered a place on the next available session to make up for the one missed. Alternatively, the client may transfer or sell their place to another person, provided that the replacement has completed an introduction workshop with a Mantrailing Instructor. Craven Canines must be informed via email of any changeover so that all relevant information can be sent to the correct participant.
- If the client is more than 30 minutes late to an introduction workshop the client will most likely not be permitted to join due to the disruption to the group and no refund shall be given. This is at the discretion of Craven Canines.
Full-Day Workshops (Roughly 7 hours)
Full day training sessions and workshops that have been paid for require at least 2 weeks notice of cancellation to receive a refund.
- 2 weeks+: full refund, simply swap the date of your session
- Under 2 weeks: no refund
- Requests for a refund and any cancellations will be at the discretion of Craven Canines and any decision is made on a case-by-case basis.
- Craven Canines is not responsible for third-party costs (e.g., travel or accommodation).
7. Dog Health and Welfare
- Dogs must be fit, healthy, and fully vaccinated (puppies fully vaccinated prior to class). Verification may be requested.
- Dogs with illness, injury, or post-surgery must not attend.
- Bitches in season are not permitted without specific authorisation from Craven Canines.
- Aversive equipment (e.g., pinch collars, spray collars) are prohibited. Continued use may result in removal from class.
- Clients must follow instructor guidance and maintain control of dogs at all times.
- Craven Canines reserves the right to refuse participation or remove any dog from a session if, in our professional judgement, the dog poses a safety or welfare risk to themselves, other dogs, participants, instructors, or members of the public.
- Where appropriate, additional management measures may be required, including but not limited to the use of a muzzle, increased distance from other dogs, or modified participation. Failure to comply may result in removal from the session without refund.
- Clients are responsible for ensuring that all equipment used, including harnesses, leads, long lines, collars, and tracking equipment, are safe, suitable, and fit for purpose. Craven Canines accepts no responsibility for equipment failure, loss, or damage.
8. Health and Safety
- Clients must follow instructions from Craven Canines trainers at all times.
- Vehicles are parked at the owner's risk.
- Sessions may be shortened or cancelled due to extreme weather or dog wellbeing.
- Clients agree to allow Craven Canines to contact their vet if necessary.
- Participation is at the client's own risk. Craven Canines holds appropriate public liability and professional indemnity insurance; however, this does not remove or replace the handler's responsibility for their own actions or the actions of their dog.
- Craven Canines accepts no liability for injury, loss, or damage to persons, dogs, or property, except where required by law.
- Craven Canines is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings during sessions, workshops, or events.

10. Risk
- Craven Canines provides training in a safe and professional manner but cannot guarantee risk-free participation.
- Clients assume full responsibility for their own safety, their dog's safety, and damage or injury caused to others.
11. Mantrailing Waiver
- Clients must follow all trainer instructions at all times.
- Clients must be courteous to pedestrians and traffic; high-visibility equipment may be required.
- Dogs left in vehicles must be comfortable, with sufficient airflow and water, which is solely the owner's responsibility.
- Participation is at your own risk; insurance is recommended.
- Craven Canines takes all reasonable precautions within the structure of our services to avoid injury resulting from dog bites. However, Craven Canines accepts no responsibility for damage or injury resulting from dog bites occurring to clients or their dogs while attending services.
- Clients are fully responsible for any harm or damage caused by themselves or their dog.
- Participants agree not to conduct or offer similar mantrailing services to the public or other businesses in the UK for two years following any course, unless authorised in writing by the head instructor.
12. General Conduct and Ethics
- Our methods are kind, ethical, and effective, but results require commitment from the client.
- Dogs should remain in the car unless otherwise instructed, and always on a lead.
- Aggression or behavioural issues must be declared in writing before training begins.
- All clients must respect other participants and instructors; abusive behaviour may result in termination of service.
By booking or attending any session, the client confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions in full.
